Facts facts about ovarian cancer

  • 12 women in the UK die of ovarian cancer every day
  • A UK woman has a 2% chance of being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in her lifetime
  • 5 year survival rate is 43%
  • If diagnosed earlier, up to 90% of women would survive 5 years or more
  • Just 3% of women are confident of spotting a symptom...
  • ...in fact 32% of women are diagnosed through A&E
  • ovarian cancer is the biggest gynaecological killer of UK women with UK survival rates amongst the worst in the country
  • three quarter of ovarian cancer patients are diagnosed when the disease has already spread making it more difficult to treat

Symptoms of ovarian cancer

  • increased abdominal size and persistent bloating
  • difficulty eating/feeling full more quickly
  • needing to wee more urgently or more often
